CSRD OBLIGATION
IN A NUTSHELL
In the years to come, the new European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) will require companies to report on various Environmental, Social and Governmental issues. This includes not only Scope 1 and 2 emissions, but also Scope 3: emissions resulting from the activities of external companies. The transportation of your goods over water by NPRC falls under Scope 3.
NPRC works in compliance with these regulations and can provide clients with the right data for reporting requirements. Together with clients, we can take steps to reduce emissions in the coming years. Using the levels stated below, we make CO2 reports accountable.
LEVEL 1: CALCULATED
EMISSIONS
At this level, to provide insight into the CO2 emissions of transports, NPRC works with standard inland shipping figures that are enriched as much as possible with our own data. The key figures are based on Scientific Research. We receive the additional data from members.
Over three quarters of NPRC members enter their fuel consumption in the iBarge App after each transport. This reveals the actual CO2 emissions per transport. Big Mile has validated this CO2 calculation, making it accountable.
LEVEL 2: MEASURED EMISSIONS
If you use a fixed shuttle fleet for inland waterway transports, it is possible to measure your entire CO2 emissions for these transports. As a shipper, you can find this data in the online portal after the transport has been completed and use it directly for internal CO2 reports (scope 3 emissions).
LEVEL 3: REAL-TIME SENSORS
Want to go a step further and view emissions in real-time? In partnership with our members, we can realise the implementation of sensors on board. Digital links to your system allow you to process real-time data directly within your own emission reports. That provides an immediate overview.
‘Making the supply chain more sustainable is high on our agenda. NPRC successfully measures and implements this.’
