Biomass products are primarily used in the European heating and energy market. In the coming years, biomass is expected to become more popular in generating steam and heat. The European Union has formulated several energy and climate objectives.
For example, 20% of energy production in Europe must come from sustainable sources by 2020. More and more production plants will be using wood chips as raw material. All major seaports in the ARA range are well equipped for the handling and storage of biomass products.

Recently the transport of wood pellets has seen a dramatic increase at the NPRC. We have become the partner of choice for many players in the Benelux and Germany. Waste processors are fully aware that we have built up a great expertise in this field. Especially our in-depth knowledge of the legislation of transporting biomass has proven to be invaluable.
Our versatile fleet with many certified barges gives our clients the security of supply. A large part of the NPRC fleet has the necessary “NIWO” and “paragraph 53” permits for the transport of waste in the Benelux and towards Germany.
