REPORT

Moving forward together in sustainable inland shipping

NPRC presents its second Sustainability Report. In this updated ‘CSRD-light’ report, we look back at the results for 2025 and highlight the steps we have taken, together with our members, towards a future-proof inland shipping transport sector.

In 2025, we made further progress in reducing CO2 emissions. CO2 emissions have been reduced by 20% compared with the reference year 2023. These results stem from a combination of measures, including investments in cleaner technologies, the use of sustainable fuels, operational optimisations and further digitalisation of the logistics chain.

The report highlights the results we have achieved, as well as the challenges posed by the energy transition. Changing legislation and regulations, the availability of sustainable energy sources and the necessary investments call for ongoing collaboration within the sector. It is precisely by sharing knowledge and investing jointly in innovative solutions that we continue to build a sustainable and future-proof inland shipping transport sector.

With this second Sustainability Report, we are providing insight into our progress and underlining our ambition to further accelerate the transition to a more sustainable European inland shipping transport sector, together with our members, customers and partners.
