Switching to more sustainable waterway transport!
Sustainable inland shipping: cooperation between Imerys and NPRC to make logistics chain more sustainable. As of July 1, Imerys’ industrial minerals are transported entirely on HVO100, a 100% renewable fuel made from waste oils and fats. This reduces emissions by 85%. The inland barge Condor is among the vessels sailing on HVO100.
Joost van Moorsel, Group Transportation Director at Imerys, sees this as an important milestone: “This partnership is a concrete step towards reducing our CO₂ emissions in the supply chain. It reflects our broader strategic ambition to make a meaningful contribution to sustainability, both for ourselves and for our customers.”
Femke Brenninkmeijer said: “As NPRC, we offer our customers various solutions to make logistics more sustainable and reduce emissions, thus meeting the needs with respect to the so-called ‘scope 3’. This collaboration between Imerys and NPRC is a great example of how we are fulfilling this through partnership.”
